War, prison, any extreme situation is mostly psychological
Not the strongest survive. Survival of the fittest. The one who understands what's what faster. In whom new qualities develop faster - the ability to sense a person’s presence, think quickly, increase reaction speed, make correct or non-standard decisions. The veneer of civilization is very thin, it disappears instantly. The human goes away, the animal remains. But this is precisely what helps to survive. War is scary not because it tears off arms and legs. War is terrible because it tears away the soul. As they say, the army is a wolf's path, which must be walked along with your teeth bared. But remain human at the same time.
How real fighters are trained. Survival course in the Russian army
In May 2012, information appeared in the media that a new intensive training program for military personnel serving in the ground forces was being introduced in the Russian armed forces.
This program is popularly called “survival courses” because it includes a set of special exercises aimed at overcoming fear, as well as mastering methods of self-control and self-regulation. The program lasts six weeks. It was approved by the Commander-in-Chief of the Ground Forces, Colonel General Alexander Postnikov, who is confident that it will help add a certain element of reasonable risk and surprise to the military training process.
According to Colonel Sergei Vlasov, the new course included the basics of survival, which included knowledge of ways to survive in different climatic conditions, at different temperatures, the influence of high altitude on the human body, as well as methods of self-control and self-regulation.
Less than six months later, loud controversy broke out in the press and on the Internet regarding the appropriateness of introducing a new training program. Many are sure that such “survival courses” are humiliating and illegal, many call them absurd, and some do not believe that such a thing actually exists. But first things first.
First of all, it should be noted that, starting in May of this year, intensive training has become mandatory for all contract soldiers, both those who have just come to serve and those who have been undergoing it for quite some time. Moreover, this course is also mandatory for technicians and even female military personnel. If a soldier refuses to take the course or fails the course, this may be sufficient grounds for his dismissal from the armed forces due to failure to meet the requirements for professional military personnel.
In fact, this is exactly what happens. Since the introduction of the program, more than a thousand contract soldiers have not completed survival courses, or have refused to take them. Now this figure has increased by another 350 people. In addition, approximately a thousand military personnel wrote reports refusing to take the course, and another number of military personnel simply did not pass the medical examination.
As for the program itself, this is a general-arms training course, which at first glance has very little contact with the air force, air defense forces, naval units, communications units or technical specialists. However, both the intensity of the program and its load are extremely high for everyone taking the course. Even though this to some extent depends on the conditions of the training unit on the basis of which it takes place.
The course includes, in addition to intensive physical training, fire, combat, medical, tactical, engineering, and chemical training. Most of the course takes place on training grounds. And in conclusion - a large forced march of 150 kilometers, the conditions of which are as close to combat conditions as possible. During this time, the military personnel eat dry rations, master camouflage skills, methods of setting up field camps, the skills of operating against the enemy, undergo practical training in the tactics of conducting small military formations, and overcome artificial and natural obstacles. After completing the course, everyone takes final exams in combat and physical training.
As for the course for female military personnel, the course for them is slightly modified. So, for example, they must overcome a 3-kilometer forced march in 15 minutes. In addition, there is a psychological test - the so-called “tank run-in” - you need to withstand it, not be scared, skip it, and then knock it out. In addition, women must also pass field first aid exams.
By and large, we can say that the new training program is nothing more than a course for a young fighter, only taken to a higher professional level, which consists exclusively of practical combat training. Directly related to the course of survival is heavy physical activity, especially for women. After all, most of them are already well over 40, and after a 5-kilometer forced march they may suffer from high blood pressure. In addition, if a woman is of a fragile build, then lifting a backpack with all the necessary components (armored helmet, sapper shovel, gas mask) will not be an easy task.
Among the military personnel themselves, there are also different opinions about whether this survival course is needed by everyone, or whether it should be limited to exclusively combat units.
Some argue (in particular, the Marines) argue that this program is not a survival course at all - just a course for a young fighter that has nothing to do with the basics of survival in extreme situations. According to others, it is pure absurdity to force pilots or sailors to climb under tanks or overcome enormous distances in forced marches. After all, for that matter, the ground forces will not be able, if necessary, to prepare an airplane for takeoff or a ship for departure. Therefore, it is either necessary to introduce an additional course for the ground forces to master these skills, or to cancel the existing survival course for the air force and navy. Everyone should do what they are trained to do.
But, if you delve deeper into the essence of the problem, then there cannot be non-combat formations in the armed forces, since in real combat conditions the situation may develop in such a way that you will have to fight off the enemy while lying in a trench with a machine gun, and not sitting at the controls of an airplane or with a wrench at the ready. And then neither the state of health, nor the type of military service, nor age will matter much.
In addition, any branch of the military requires its fighters to have certain physical and combat training, so the “survival course” will only help improve their level.
It must also be said that the new program makes it possible to staff the army with highly professional specialists. It identifies those who came to the service only for the sake of good material benefits and do not understand why crawl in the mud and study military affairs, if they can sit somewhere at a communications center or at the headquarters of a unit.
However, do not think that this program is ideal. There are also certain problems here, thinking about solving them is much more important than discussing the feasibility of it in general. If the course already exists, then it is better to think about how to increase its effectiveness. First of all, it is necessary to combat such a negative, but, unfortunately, widespread phenomenon as paying for final exams. This is often practiced at the platoon level and in most cases is instigated by the soldiers themselves, frightened by the prospect of failing the course. But if they start hinting at “financial support” for the course, you should not agree meekly, because, as a rule, those who voluntarily wrote a report before starting it, or those who did not pass the medical commission, are eliminated. And in the case where the military would drop out during the course, there really is very little.
Another serious problem is equipment, or more precisely, purchasing it at your own expense, which no one will compensate for later. But if you have to choose between what the state can offer and what you can buy yourself, then, undoubtedly, it is better to go with the second option. And hope that over time the situation will change for the better. Unlikely, of course, but still...
It is quite possible to assume that the tightening of requirements for contract military personnel is related to the law that was adopted at the beginning of 2012. According to him, a significant increase in pay for the military of the Russian army is planned soon. Depending on the position and length of service, an ordinary contract soldier will receive about 25-35 thousand rubles, and in some cases – up to 42 thousand. In addition, it is also planned to increase compensation for rental housing. Such conditions, according to the military leadership, will cause an increase in those willing to serve. Therefore, in addition to the appropriate age (19-30 years), the presence of a complete secondary education, the absence of physical and psychological contraindications, and positive results of tests for professional aptitude, the course for survival will become one of the factors in the selection of those who joined the army by vocation.

Your whole previous life will cease to matter
You will “weigh” exactly as much as you “weigh” here and now. Neither gold, nor apartments, nor positions, nor the brands of your former cars will add weight to you. If in your previous life you had a Maserati, and in this life you don’t know how to get food or shell boxes for the stove, you’re shit. Urban people are generally poorly adapted to extreme situations. The best soldiers, prisoners, survivalists are, as a rule, simple men from the outback with rough faces, as if hewn with an axe. Learn from them. Stick to them. They are the most reliable. In general, a good soldier always looks more like a homeless person than like Rambo. It may seem strange, but it’s amazing how many people find this a revelation. And they habitually boast about past wealth and believe that this makes them more important than others. Until everyone gets completely tired of it. Then such people get hit on the head with a butt and are sent to their place - to the very bottom of the social ladder. For many, this becomes a serious psychological trauma, and for others it can break.
How to survive and live in a civil war

The following advice comes from a former GRU officer. The scenario is civil war or war.
...One way or another, the scenarios may be different. The essence is always the same: you need to survive the first two weeks, and then “we’ll see” (and this does not mean that you need to sit at home for two weeks). Scenario “A” shouldn’t bother you too much; if Svidomo or some other people are transferred to Moscow, then there will be people to “work” with them. You don't need to get into this. So rule number one was born. There is no need to get involved anywhere, especially in a “fight”. There will always be “scumbags” for this. Your task is to “preserve labor resources,” that is, yourself. As for the two remaining options. In the case of “B” you will have to fight, if you want, of course. In the case of “B”, you don’t have to fight anymore. They screwed up their homeland. You will decide for yourself, depending on the situation. You can “die the brave”, you can work and live on, if given.
The main thing to remember is that there will always be about three degrees of “ass”. Local battles, full-scale war, hopeless occupation with subsequent dismemberment of the country. I explain this so that there is an understanding of a very important point that people usually forget about under stress: your actions depend on the situation. No amateurism, just common sense.
Shooting on the street is not the end of the world. Even if you have a primary treatment point for the wounded in your entrance, and there is a crew of a 120mm mortar in the yard, this does not mean that you need to urgently run (although if there is a mortar, then the position must be changed; it will certainly be demolished along with you).
Yes, yes, gunfire and corpses don’t mean anything, oddly enough. An untimely “get the fuck out” maneuver can cost you your life. Don’t fuss, don’t panic, look at WHO is shooting at WHOM, and most importantly, why.
While we are in the city
If, during the events and riots, you decided to flee, then I will try to briefly outline your chances. In a city like Moscow or St. Petersburg, there is very little chance of survival. There is no sufficient supply of food in the cities and no one will distribute it in case of unrest. Food is only available in shops and food bases (you can forget about them, troops or bandits will appear there right away).
It makes sense to buy food on the first day, when they are still on sale; Then the shops will close, and the staff will start stealing everything. If the moment with the “purchase” has been clicked, then we’ll pick up the gun and go “privatize”. I advise you to get more than one neighbor to do this for you, firstly, you will take away more food, since you still need someone to cover you from the same thugs who meet you inside or on the way back; secondly, the firepower you have with a smoothbore is somewhere around zero and an extra pair of barrels won’t hurt, but remember, if you gather too many people with you, then you are a “group target”, and it will be very sad to “share” the swag ( 3-4 people, no need to take any more with you).
Of course, you should have supplies of water and food in your apartment. The water situation is even worse; there will be no supply. If the water from the tap disappears, you have a toilet tank. DON'T YOU DARE FLOW THIS WATER! It is no different from tap water, just one riser with cold water. And this is to live for a week and not bother (well, not to die, that’s for sure). If possible, then put a couple of canisters in your teeth and “gut” the gas station. Fuel and lubricants are very important. But remember, you can’t keep him in the apartment. Vapors are highly flammable. Make a cache, preferably in the attic, in the basement people will hide from shelling.
They are unlikely to kill you. In troubled waters, no one wastes ammunition on people without weapons. Of course, this is not a reason to go for a full-length walk before bed, but remember that you are not the #1 target. As the experience of the city of Grozny has shown, it is quite possible for men who are howling in full force to completely ignore the locals and have no time for them. Of course, the “fool” can always fly in, especially at dusk, but it’s still not that bad.
Remember that you should not be located next to a television center or an infrastructure facility, and, of course, if people with weapons entered the apartment and “informed” you that they now have a machine gun crew here, then you tell them “OK , settle down,” and leave. No “This is my property, I’m not going anywhere” - this is a bullet in the forehead right away, they have no time for you, if you interfere, you’ll get killed. Leave even if they don't ask. Since their opponents can “cover” your apartment at any moment, and they will not shoot stones from slingshots.
It’s better not to jump in front of the hospital either. The parties to the conflict will take the wounded there, perhaps they will try to win back this strategic building. There will be gunfire. In the event of bombing, someone will certainly miss the hospital, don’t even doubt that those who wrote the Geneva Convention are usually not in the GT, which makes its compliance somewhat conditional. As in “Pirates of the Caribbean”: “This is not a set of laws, but rather a set of rules that are desirable to be followed.”
Remember, as soon as such a mess begins, your property no longer exists. And I don’t advise it to arise too much. You need to kill if someone puts their hands on your food and water. Everything else is nonsense. If you exchange a car for a machine gun in the armory room of the nearest police station, then you are a great fellow. Even if you exchanged a new Mercedes for a used AKSU and only 2-3 stores, then you are still a great fellow. You don't need the car anymore. You will not be able to leave the city 100% on it, but the desire to shoot at you will be very serious. While you are in the city, I do not advise you to wear camouflage clothing, otherwise you may get caught.
So, what have we now predicted? In our city "M" street battles began. We made the decision, due to circumstances or for tactical reasons, to stay in the city (although this is a bad idea, almost always). We know that you can start robbing stores already on the second day, there are weapons at the nearest police station, there is some water in the toilet tank (if you get a couple of bottles of drinking water in the store - even better), your property no longer exists, the man with a weapon is always right, there where there is a person with a weapon - there should not be you, who dresses like a military man - fights (even if he doesn’t want to), a cache with fuel and lubricants is a big plus (fuel and lubricants, by the way, can become a currency commensurate in liquidity with weapons and ammunition), to important objects We don't even come close.
And here's another thing. NEVER GO ANYWHERE JUST SO, ESPECIALLY “TO SEE WHAT IS THERE.” In urban combat, many things are done “quietly,” using the reconnaissance and sabotage method. Any reconnaissance group, seeing you, will 100% go and cut you down. In films they point the finger “quietly” and move on. In real life, you will be killed on the spot. Their survival and completion of the task depends on the absence of witnesses.
Moreover, a group that has taken a position in an urban maneuver battle will do the same if you “light up” their positions and move on. Even a machine gun crew at an intersection that has just “dug in” will not have warm feelings towards you. So if they notice you from afar and beckon you to “talk” with their finger, turn around and run as fast as you can.
Guys can smile, look friendly, entice you with swag - come up and everything will change. Locals often have to be “worked off” if they get caught along the way. So we don’t ask questions, we don’t get out of our “shell” once again.
We decided to leave the city.
Now we are starting to leave the city. The problem is this: either the city is blocked off, or there are battles going on in it. If, due to circumstances, you missed the moment of the start of active fighting, this is very bad, but it does not mean that you are doomed. You can always leave the city. Here, regardless of the situation, there are two points. First: moving around the city, second: passing through the cordon. There are ring roads around large populated areas - this is the main problem.
Motorized riflemen on boxes will take the city into a ring in a few hours, moving on smooth asphalt. If this happens, then immediately discard all thoughts of “slipping through unnoticed.” Any “incomprehensible” movement is, in combat conditions, an immediate turn, and the golden rule “I don’t see, I don’t shoot” often does not work. We are going to the cordon to surrender in good faith. But we haven’t gotten to that point yet...
Yes, here's one more thing: DO NOT GET IN THE CAR!!! Any transport in the city will be fired upon 100%.
So, we have with us a backpack with swag necessary for survival, ideally, a small-sized weapon (Aksu + pistol, standard cop set), and another small bag that duplicates the main backpack, only on a much more modest scale (for example, in a backpack you have food for three days, and in your bag for another day, etc.). Keep the bag close to the body and do not remove it. It is very important to take with you separately, even in shorts, all the jewelry you find.
Cover the backpack with a white sheet and secure it to it. This is necessary so that any soldier who spots you (and there will be many of them, and don’t even hope to pass through the city unnoticed) sees that you are a CIVIL and does not decide to “open” their position for your sake. You will be guided through the sights and you will move on. Of course, you are not marching along the main avenue, but there is no need to cover yourself in mud, a la Schwarzenegger - they will herd you and shoot you, because they will not understand who and what you are. Accordingly, you are not wearing camouflage.
You are a civilian and must look like a civilian, with a white backpack, like a white flag, otherwise they will shoot you. You must show with all your appearance that you are not of interest, you are simply leaving. Of course, you have a weapon with you, but you don’t carry it over your head, but hide it. Pistol in pocket (cocked). If you got hold of a machine gun (ideally an axu), fold the butt and hide it under your jacket. I advise you to remove the fuse on the machine immediately, it can be hard and you can get confused. The cartridge is in the chamber, of course. There should not be any bulky things on your chest, at most a hidden machine gun - if you have to fall, you will lie on some kind of bag that will lift you above the ground, it will be easier to hit you.
If a person with a weapon is heading straight towards you, you stop and “without tricks”; his comrades are in position. He will most likely gut you for swag, if he wanted to shoot you, he would have already shot you. If he takes away your backpack, you give it back (we would have given it back anyway at the exit from the city, at the cordon), ask him to leave you a sheet (you’ll put it on your back) and a bag (small, which we used to duplicate everything in smaller quantities). This is a purely psychological moment, we calmly give away big things and ask them to leave small things for us, as a rule, people agree, this was our expectation from the very beginning. No one will let you leave with a bunch of swag, everyone needs it.
We say that we have a machine gun (we don’t take it out and show it, but calmly talk about its presence) and ask us to leave it - they will take 100%, but this will allow you to keep the gun (don’t talk about it, if you give up the machine gun, you’re unlikely to be harassed) , the machine gun would have been noticed anyway, and if you handed it over right away, that means you are “non-violent.” You seem to be exchanging your things for your own. If you didn’t have a pistol, you could take the smoothbore disassembled, the main thing was to give it away “a big and terrible weapon.” We proceed from the fact that since you sat through the cordon and street fighting, then you didn’t just watch an advertisement on TV, and you already went to the bazaar at the nearest OM.
As for the speed of movement, if you walk around the city 10–15 kilometers a day, then this is an excellent speed. Remember that you will not go straight, but will wind through neighborhoods, as there will be local battles. Accordingly, if according to the map there are 10 kilometers from your home to the Ring Road, this does not mean that you will cover them in a day. Go during the DAY. They usually move at night, but any fool who goes at night - 10 out of 10 will get a bullet. We walk during the day with a white sheet, we give up, we will hide - we will gather fire on ourselves.
You reach the cordon or barrage cordons, throw off the pistol, and with your hands raised high, actively demonstrating in your voice that you are here, showing a white rag, you are going to the soldiers. You don’t go anywhere, you go to a checkpoint or a support point, if necessary, walk 200–300 meters to it with your hands raised. The point is that the post is equipped for “reception” and the soldiers feel more comfortable there, and therefore there will be less desire to shoot. They start harassing you. You have already thrown off your weapon, you are a “quiet man in the street”, an officer will come out to you. Most likely, some lieutenant, no older. This means that there is no need to be particularly servile to him. You offer to exchange valuables for the “right of passage.” Of course not in front of subordinates. If everything went well, then you left the city.
Along the way, you will 100% lose almost all your swag and all your weapons, having spent 1-2 days traveling a ridiculous distance. AND THIS IS NORMAL. The ringed city is a huge camp of prisoners. You can give anything just to get out. Because hunger will begin inside and soon enough.
So, we walk carefully, but do not hide like “scouts.” We are dressed like civilians and have a white rag on our backs (from the front it will be clear that you have no weapons, but from the back it will be unclear about the weapons, you need to be on the safe side). We have a little bag of vital swag. There is jewelry (gold) as currency. Weapons, which we do not forget to part with before we approach the military at the post (if they accept you with a weapon, it will be difficult to explain that you are a civilian; you will either be recorded as a deserter or disguised as an enemy). If you left the city half empty for 1-3 days, moving from area to area, then this is normal.
From personal experience: regular peanut Snickers are very nutritious. 6 double Snickers is the daily kcal requirement for a man. It may not work to heat the food (most likely). Snickers is certainly not a buffet, but the war is on, don’t be picky in terms of food. The Snickers theme was honestly stolen from the Chechens. They fight on them. You can have a snack right on the way, a very good idea, with sugar, glucose, it lifts your mood (considering that you will be in a terrible psychophysical state - glucose is very helpful).
The main thing is to understand that the guys with machine guns are very dressed up and they are being shot at. It's very easy to give them a reason to shoot at you. So be careful and don't show off. Simpler face, agree to everything.
So, now I will very briefly tell you where and why you need to leave. Remember, up to this point we have specifically analyzed the CRUEL SCENARIOS. Now we will do the same. I do this on purpose, “why?”, I think there is no need to explain. So, the worst option: we found ourselves outside the city with almost no food or weapons. Ideally, each of you should take a map in advance (now) and scatter several places on the map where you can retreat. NO HEROES! Let the foam go away, and then you will figure out where and what is happening. You must choose places according to the CARDINAL DIRECTIONS. A simple example: St. Petersburg. Most likely, there will be no need to step back to the West. There is no point in going to the South either. You will go either to the North, to Karelia, or to the East to the Novgorod, Tver, regions. With Moscow, approximately the same, North (Arkhangelsk direction) or East (Ural ridge).
Remember: DO NOT approach military installations! The idea that “our own Russian soldiers” at a base in the region will be received and fed is nonsense. In the BEST case, the officers will send you away, they have no time for you, this is not a refugee reception center. But the fact that the bombing of an object can begin is an objective reality. Also, don’t forget the following point: now the urgent care is carried out “near” the house. If a “mixture” has begun, it is better not to even imagine what is going on in the minds of the military, whose relatives and friends may still remain in the city. Remember, everyone is human. The military is just as worried, nervous and freaked out as all ordinary people. But they do it with weapons in their hands. So the idea that “soldiers will help” is not a good one.
In general, according to your mind, you should have a “house in the village”, in which in the underground there is a cache of stewed meat, canned food, water, medicine, etc., where you should retreat. The Chechens did just that, went to villages and villages. But we proceed from the worst-case scenarios, since many do not have such real estate.
So, it’s easier for me using the example of St. Petersburg. I'll figure it out on the map now. So, for each direction we must have a MINIMUM of two places. Near and far. For a loved one, I recommend using any tourist campsite near a small settlement. If you have previously been outdoors near a lake or river, for example at a barbecue, then it is quite possible to go there. Firstly, you will know what to expect. You will understand the availability of drinking water and food there. Secondly, you know the place. This will greatly support you psychologically. Refugees are a very sad picture, it’s hard to look at them. But the “herd” exodus of refugees may not be organized by anyone, and you will end up alone and without a final point where “some” red cross will receive you. Most likely, this will happen, don’t even doubt it.
The first serious “philanthropists” appeared in Chechnya after the first war. For two years, civilians were left to their own devices. So we have two points near the city. Now we need two points for a “deep” retreat. If we retreat to the North, then I would suggest the Solovetsky Monastery (on an island in the White Sea). There is a village there. Rabocheostrovsk, it has a ferry crossing. Of course, no ferry will run anymore, but at the river station you can always “privatize” a rowing boat. The White Sea is relatively calm. It’s possible to swim across (it’s difficult - but it’s possible, you have no more reasons to whine, so let’s row). In the East, I would retreat to the Iversky Monastery in the Tver region. It is also located on a small island in the middle of the lake. There are food warehouses and factories nearby (along the M10 highway).
Why monasteries? They will not be bombed first (this does not mean that the list of targets will not change in the second stage). Yes, here’s another thing: leave the thought of Christian virtue right away. No one is waiting for you there and you will not be welcome. You are going there to actually be sold into slavery. If you work for them, do housework, guard or do anything else, they will feed you. You go and say right away: “I am a strong, healthy man, I will do any work for you, for food.” Forget about the moral responsibility of priests to the laity right away, and it’s better not to even open your mouth about this.
Of course, everything is conditional. You can choose another place. But the main principle is: your property is no longer there, you are quite happy to be in a semi-slave position if they feed you. By the way, the absence of your property also means that no one else has it. Anyone who cannot protect his property with a weapon does not have property. This is for discussion: how to get vehicles.
Of course, there is no public transport anymore. The advantage for us is that now we can get into the car. The car can be “privatized” or found abandoned. There is no need to touch an abandoned car with an empty tank. You won’t be able to get the fuel and lubricants, and even if you push it, you won’t get anywhere at the gas station. Once you get your hands on a car, hang it with white rags, ideally make a “cross” on the roof with red tape (this is not a panacea, they bomb other vehicles too, but there’s a greater chance that they’ll target you).
You have to move slowly! 50–60 km/h. This was done for one simple reason: there may be ribbons with military personnel on the highway; if you drive fast on them, some “Ivan” will definitely shoot “just in case.” Any civilians who want to stop you are not valued - gas them (they will not share with you, but they will ask you to “share”). If it’s a ribbon or a separate box, slow down on the side of the road and stick your hands up, out the window or ajar door. There is no need to get out of the car (if you get out, there will be a desire to snoop around you). Sit calmly and without nerves and pray to yourself. I don’t recommend “burning” the guys with your eyes; look at the floor or forward.
If everything worked out, then you have a roof over your head, a job, food and people to talk to (this is also important). Now you can wait a week or two, see what’s happening, assess the situation in the country and make a further decision.
Now there is a little cynicism. If you have a convoy from your family with you, you are dead. If you have a family, then you must leave the city and find yourself in the country (with supplies of food and water) in the very first seconds, as soon as people on the streets began to swear about the Great Poo. If you do not have positions for retreat and have a “convoy”, you are a walking two hundred, and so is the convoy. Don’t be stupid, get ready in advance, you need to TAKE your loved ones SOMEWHERE. And they must have food. Then do whatever you want. If you want, go back and fight, if you want, go back and go to the clubs while your wife is “on potatoes.” But the main thing is to think about them in advance, then it will be too late. Everything that I have said up to this point is all for “loners” who have nothing to lose. If you have a family, prepare in advance. As history has shown, family is more valuable than the Motherland, at least at the first stage.
We decided to take part in the hostilities.
Next I will talk about some specifics regarding the database. How to behave if you have seen enough of patriotic films and decided to “die for the graves of your grandfathers.” So that this does not turn into a “virtual club of thugs”, I will tell some specific little things in abstracts.
So, we start butting heads. This could have happened from the very beginning or we previously ran and hid. The main thing is to understand that even if you are Rimbaud, you will not do anything alone. War is a team sport. Therefore, you must definitely join one of the sides in the conflict. Once again: you can’t fight alone! Someone even fed Vasya Zaitsev and supplied him with ammunition, so no tricks, commandos. Agree to volunteer for any of the dirtiest work, but as part of the Armed Forces. Even if they make you a “shrew”, that’s also good.
I say right away that any thoughts, aspirations and hopes that everything will be simple and clear - discard immediately.
– In the troops, no one always really understands anything. Most officers are tyrants, and the number of moral monsters who are eager to fight will go off scale. And this is normal (more precisely, not normal, but the norm). Remember, no matter how smart you are, you stick your brain in as deep as possible and do everything exactly as you are told. Even if this is some kind of stupid obviousness, you DO NOT IMPROVISE. Everything is in accordance with the charter and orders. Anyone who starts to “get smart,” no matter how logical and reasonable it may seem, always ends up in trouble.
– Remember, if your “friends” yell at you, it’s not bad. No need to snap back. It's bad when they shoot at you. And this also happens, since it’s quite difficult to figure out where you are and where you are strangers. The battles are maneuverable and positions are constantly changing. You can confidently fight for several hours until headquarters realizes from radio communications that you are shooting at each other. So this also happens. And then there is no need to present claims to the “opponents”; they didn’t like it either.
– Remember the weapon is always on safety. You take it off only if you start shooting or go on a “head patrol” (but YOU are unlikely to end up there, the commanders won’t risk it). If there is a blockhead walking next to you on the march with the fuse removed, correct him. DO NOT PUSH YOUR HANDS TOWARDS THE WEAPON. Correct with words, tell him about the fuse. If he refuses, then make the decision yourself: you can tell the sergeant or officer, you can kill him as you want. But remember that a lot of guys were packed into 200 because of idiots who were careless with weapons. On the other hand, the fighter whom you place in front of the commander may then shoot at you. Decide for yourself. It’s better to stand your ground and press it yourself if your character allows.
– NEVER point a weapon at your own people. Even as a joke, even with the safety on, even with the magazine unfastened. You will be “punished” for such a trick.
– On an AK, the fuse has three positions. Actually, blocking, automatic fire and single. If you suddenly release the safety in a panic, you will probably lower it all the way and thereby put it in single-fire mode. This was done so that the fighter, distraught with horror, would not waste the magazine in a second and would not be left without ammunition. Remember this.
– The fuse on the AK clangs quite disgustingly. If you need to remove it quietly, then pull it back and smoothly switch it to the desired fire mode (this is almost always a single fire).
– Before leaving, jump in place. Check that nothing is clanging or strumming at you. It is better to rewind the swivels on the weapon in advance with electrical tape or a bandage. The cartridge is in the chamber, and on the fuse.
– Study the shooting tables for your weapon. The bullet is NOT flying STRAIGHT. It has a ballistic trajectory with ups and downs. Therefore, correctly determining the distance to the target and knowing the shooting table is a good opportunity to hit quickly, which means reducing the time it takes for them to shoot at you.
– The wind affects the trajectory of the bullet. Study the effect of wind on your weapon IN ADVANCE, and not by sight and by eye.
– If you have the opportunity to choose a weapon, take the same one (same caliber) as most of your comrades. You can’t carry a lot of ammunition on yourself, and they run out quickly, especially in the city, so if they can share it with you, that’s a big plus. If your comrade is killed, do not hesitate to replenish your ammunition (after receiving permission from the commander).
– If you go “autonomous”, then you take 360 rounds of ammunition (that’s 12 magazines) and the same amount, but in packs you simply throw into your backpack. Save a lot of weight.
– Remember that magazines located on the chest and stomach are additional armor protection.
– Most deaths and injuries occur from shrapnel. An ordinary padded jacket is quite capable of protecting you from small fragments. By hanging an unloading magazine with stores on top, you can consider yourself relatively protected. Don't forget to raise the gate.
– Body armor is very good. Any. Even the most second-hand ones.
– If a bullet hit your armored vehicle, this does not mean that it saved you. Since the energy of a bullet, stopped by an element of armor, can cause you a monstrous armor-plated injury. Almost always breaks ribs. Organ rupture is also possible. So if you don’t have a hole in you, that’s not a reason to rejoice. It happens that a hole would be “preferable”.
- Don't touch the grenade launchers. They are difficult to shoot. Leave this to more experienced comrades.
– After spending several days in the fresh air, a smoker can be spotted 70–100 meters away. Stop smoking.
– If you heard something, stop the group and “give silence.” Listen carefully. Even if you slow down the group every five minutes, only rare idiots will swear at you.
– You never stop standing and continue standing. You need to kneel or lie down. It's very exhausting, but it's a matter of survival for the whole group. If someone is lazy to sit down, make him.
– There should be no finger on the trigger, even if the weapon is on safety.
– On marches, you put the machine gun on your hands and fold them on your chest in a cross. It's easier to carry. At the same time, the thumb of the right hand is always ready to release the safety and raise the weapon quickly enough.
– The belt (automatic) is always on the neck. Otherwise, if you get ambushed, a mine will explode and you will fly in one direction, and your weapon in the other, and you will turn from an easy 300 to 200.
- Don't sleep on duty. If you fall asleep, not only your enemies will want to shoot you. During the Second World War, people were officially shot for this, as well as for losing weapons. Now they are shooting unofficially.
– You can pee on your knees without turning into a standing target.
– ONLY two at a time go to the toilet. One shits - the second covers it. If no one wants to go with you, be patient.
- Sneeze into yourself.
“He who runs slowly dies quickly.”
– The effectiveness of grenades is overrated. There were cases when a grenade exploded in a small room, and inside there were only slight concussions.
“You can’t pull out the pin with your teeth.” Only with your fingers.
– If you are carrying out a clean-up operation (the last hours of your life), then as in the joke: the two of you enter the room, first the grenade, then you.
- Standing in front of the door and waiting for your comrades gathering for the assault, hold the door so that it cannot be opened. Otherwise, you will see either a grenade or a barrel in the corridor.
- Roll the grenade across the floor. Don't throw.
“They rolled a grenade, there was an explosion, they rolled another one, but it wasn’t cocked. Let them go hide again.
– Don’t run in front of your friend’s gun. You are blocking his ability to shoot.
– Any closed door is UNTOUCHABLE, as it can be mined.
– Do not open drawers, do not turn on electronics. Don't touch anything. Everything can be mined. It is important. To the point where you can’t open the refrigerator, even if you really want to eat, or lift the toilet lid.
– There may be holes in the walls covered with rags or carpets. This way the enemy can quickly run from front door to front door. Remember this. The fact that you are in the last apartment does not mean that you cannot enter through the wall from the neighboring one.
– You can hang nets from old Soviet beds on the windows. They stop VOGs well.
– You can hear meowing, for example, from behind the closet door. I'm very sorry, but the animal is doomed. Most likely, he was locked there along with a grenade. You can't open it. This is a very difficult moment, you always want to remain human in such difficult situations, but...
– If you need to shoot from indoors to outside, then you don’t need to crawl to the windowsill or stand on the side of the window. Go deeper into the room, stand on a stool, covering yourself with a wall or the like. And don’t turn on the light, you can’t, don’t illuminate yourself (I’m not even talking about the VU).
– Shards of brick or concrete knocked out by fire tend to fly towards you. If it hits the eyes... well, you get the idea.
“It’s useless to shoot at people with a grenade launcher.” Although now, it seems, they have begun to make high-explosive fragmentation shells, but, IMHO, this is heresy.
– Shooting for a long time without changing position is a bad idea.
- Bend down.
– There is no need to “identify snipers.” It’s not your job, and you don’t have enough knowledge. Continue fighting, “not paying” attention.
– Be prepared, mentally, to “work off” the civilians who exposed you. Including women and children. If the prospect is not encouraging, then move more carefully.
– On the AK-74 (a model with good accuracy), you can attach the PSO sight from the SVD. At distances of 500–600 meters, the AK-74 and SVD have very close trajectories, the sight will fit perfectly. Due to the caliber, you will shoot and endure fire much faster than with the SVD. And those who decide to look for a sniper will not be interested in you.
– It is IMPOSSIBLE to shoot from a grenade launcher indoors. He has platoon time. He needs to fly 15–25 meters before the grenade is cocked. Accordingly, it simply will not work indoors.
– Modern RGO and RGN grenades explode FIRST on impact. They have an impact fuse, and an explosion after a gap triggers a self-destruct device (in case the grenade fell into loose snow).
– Nobody, not even sappers, is engaged in removing mines and explosive devices. They stupidly blow them up with a TNT bomb. No need to get smart and start filming the VU.
– Normal warriors put secrets on the tripwires so that they can’t be easily removed. So cutting the cord is a bad idea. Just pass by. This is none of your business, there are older comrades for this. I won’t teach you how to do overhead exercises or stretching. I think you understand that this is an article right away. Learn first aid.
– In case of wounds, there is venous and arterial bleeding. They are “treated” differently. But something else is important here. In the heat of battle there is no time. With venous bleeding, a comrade will die for several hours, and with arterial bleeding, literally 10-20 seconds, and then loss of consciousness and hypoxia begins. So, in order not to worry, quickly apply an arterial tourniquet over the wound (now the interns will begin to be indignant, but that’s life, this is not a citizen, you have to violate it) and return to the battle. Your friend will have half an hour or an hour to figure it out himself, or you will do it when you are free.
– A tourniquet is always at hand! Neither in a bag, nor in a backpack - either wound around the butt, or in an unloading container at hand.
– Always carry TWO tourniquets with you! You can give one to a wounded comrade and a minute later you will receive a bullet in the femoral artery.
– There is such a thing as “suppression by fire.” By actively watering the enemy, you can often hinder his actions without even hitting or causing damage to manpower. Tracers will especially help you.
– Remember the tracers, in addition to the fact that they clog up the barrel very much, they also give away your position. So don't overuse them. And it’s difficult to conduct targeted fire with them.
– Weapons need to be cleaned every day. Especially gentle in the muzzle brake area. If there is a groove or hole there, the accuracy of the battle will drop significantly.
– It’s better to fill the last three cartridges in the magazine with tracers. So that an empty store does not come as a surprise to you. Moreover, if you leave one cartridge in the barrel, then you will only have to load a new magazine, that is, the reload speed will increase.
– Watch your feet, don’t be lazy to wash them. Rub it and you are no longer a warrior. – If you see that you can shoot at someone, this is not a reason to shoot. If you are not noticed, ask the commander if you can get involved in the battle.
– If you notice someone, but have not seen you yet, do not suddenly jump to the side. Peripheral vision will give you away instantly. Gently and smoothly, without rushing, sit down and calmly take a position. It will be much less noticeable.
– Remember, when loading a cartridge into the chamber, the bolt must be released sharply so that it clangs. Otherwise it will “cheat.”
List of equipment
for WAR! Not for hiking! Designation system: items marked with an asterisk are items the purchase of which is NOT a priority. I write things for different seasons mixed up (but this does not mean that all this needs to be stuffed into one backpack), there is no need to drag it all around, of course. You should have everything at home. So that you can change the equipment yourself for different tasks. Let me make a reservation right away: I am not a fan of Gorka. I prefer a good thick field uniform and a camouflage coat over it, so “Gorka” will not be on the list.
Rags
1. Boots. There are two conditions when choosing: to keep water out, and weight. Choose the lightest ones. 2. MINIMUM five pairs of socks (including winter ones). 3. Thick pants 4. Thermal underwear 5. Several T-shirts, only cotton 6. Thick field jacket 7. Belt 8. Camouflage coat (both summer and winter) 9. Fleece jacket (instead of a sweater, it is lighter, weight is very important) 10. Winter jacket and winter pants 11. Winter boots (I recommend “Husky s.080” - cheap and cheerful) 12. Winter hat (knitted, no need to carry earflaps, it’s heavy) 13. Cap or Panama hat, for the summer. It’s better to have a Panama hat made of tarpaulin, which would at least hold in a little moisture. There is one in Splav, it’s inexpensive. 14. Winter scarf 15. “Arafatka” 16. Gloves or mittens for the winter
Equipment and equipment

In medicine
Take what you personally need, for your personal problems. Plus: 3 arterial tourniquets, 2-3 PPIs, a lot of bandages, scissors, suture material, painkillers (tablets if teeth hurt, for example), disinfectant. You also need promidol and some HARD antibiotics (but you are unlikely to buy them at the pharmacy without a prescription). Activated carbon would not be superfluous, otherwise, under load, the stomach sometimes begins to do nonsense. I also advise you to assemble a set in ampoules of ketanov, dexamethasone and cordiamine. Well, and a syringe for them, of course. This is an anti-shock kit. It will not allow your heart to stop rising because your brain has put pressure on you from pain or blood loss (and as a rule, they are somewhere nearby).

Try not to be afraid
The stupidest advice ever. It's still impossible, but try. Don't be afraid. Fear will come, but try to break it with all your might. Don’t let it take over you, otherwise you will cease to be a person and turn into a mooing animal. And this is the point. Bottom. Fight your fear every second, don’t show it to others. Avoid those who are already afflicted by it. Fear is contagious. The stupid saying about “the brave is afraid of the bullet” is partly true. Fear deprives the will to act and the ability to adequately assess the situation. As a result, you make the wrong decisions: you go the wrong way, you do the wrong thing, you don’t fall so fast, you can’t get the safety off with cotton fingers, and you end up dying.
War Survival Tips
Home / Education / Survival tips in case of war /
The following advice comes from a former GRU officer hiding under the nickname Raccoon. Unfortunately, all contact with him has been lost. The scenario is similar - civil war or war. So:
...One way or another, the scenarios may be different. The essence is always the same: you need to survive the first two weeks, and then “we’ll see” (and this does not mean that you need to sit at home for two weeks). Scenario “A” shouldn’t bother you too much; if they transfer Cheches or some other kind of thing to Moscow, then there will be people to “work” with them. You don't need to get into this. So rule number one was born. There is no need to get involved anywhere, especially in a “fight”. For this there will always be “scumbags” like me. Your task is to “preserve labor resources,” that is, yourself.
As for the two remaining options. In the case of “B” you will have to fight, if you want, of course. There are options. In the case of “B”, you don’t have to fight anymore. They screwed up their homeland. You decide for yourself, depending on the situation. You can “die the brave”, you can work and live on, if given.
The main thing to remember is that there will always be about three degrees of “ass”. Local battles, full-scale war, hopeless occupation with subsequent dismemberment of the country. I explain this so that there is an understanding of a very important point that people usually forget when they are stressed: your actions depend on the situation. No amateurism, just common sense. Shooting on the street is not the end of the world. Even if you have a primary treatment point for the wounded at your entrance, and there is a crew of a 120mm mortar in the yard, this does not mean that you need to urgently run (although if there is a mortar, then the position must be changed, it will certainly be destroyed along with you). Yes, yes, gunfire and corpses don’t mean anything, strange as it may seem. An untimely “get away” maneuver can cost you your life. Don’t fuss, don’t panic, look at WHO is shooting at WHOM, and most importantly, why.
So (number three). During the events and unrest, you decided to flee. Now, I’ll briefly outline your chances. In a city like Moscow or St. Petersburg, there is very little chance of survival. There is no sufficient supply of food in the cities and no one will distribute it in case of unrest. Food is only available in stores and food bases (you can forget about them, troops or stupid bandits will appear there right away). Shops are for you (it makes sense to buy in the first 24 hours, when they are still selling; then the shops will close and the staff will start stealing everything, if you screwed up the moment with the “purchase”, then take the gun in your hands and go “privatize”; I advise you to contract your neighbor for this task and more than one, firstly, you will carry away more food, since you still need someone to cover you from the same thugs who met you inside or on the way back, secondly, your firepower with a smoothbore is somewhere around zero and an extra pair of guns won't hurt, but remember, if you bring too many people with you, then you are a “group target”, and it will be very sad to “share” the swag; 3-4 people, you don’t need to take any more with you). Of course, you should have supplies of water and food in your apartment. The water situation is even worse; there will be no supply. If the water from the tap disappears, you have a toilet tank. DON'T YOU DARE FLOW THIS WATER! It is no different from tap water, just a riser with cold water. And these liters mean living for a week and not struggling (well, not dying on December, that’s for sure).
Of course, this is not a reason to go for a full walk before bed, but remember that you are not the number 1 goal. As the experience of the city of Grozny has shown, it is quite possible for men who are howling in full force to completely ignore the locals and have no time for them. Of course, the “fool” can always fly in, especially at dusk, but it’s still not that bad. Remember that you should not be located next to a television center or an infrastructure facility, and of course, if people with weapons entered the apartment and “informed” you that they now have a machine gun crew here, then you tell them “OK, position yourself” and leave. No “This is my property, I’m not going anywhere” - this is a bullet in the forehead right away, they have no time for you, if you interfere, you’ll get killed. Leave even if they don't ask. Since their opponents will now “cover” your apartment, and they will not shoot stones from slingshots. It’s better not to jump in front of the hospital either. The parties to the conflict will take the wounded there, perhaps they will try to win back this strategic building. There will be gunfire. In the event of bombing, someone will certainly give a shit about the hospital, don’t even doubt that those who wrote the Geneva Convention are usually not in the GT, which makes its compliance somewhat conditional. As in “Pirates of the Caribbean”: “This is not a set of laws, but rather a set of rules that are desirable to be followed.”
Remember, as soon as such a mess begins, your property no longer exists. And I don’t recommend getting too excited.
So (number four). What we have now predicted. In our city "M" street battles began. We made the decision, due to circumstances or for tactical reasons, to stay in the city (although this is a bad idea, almost always). We know that you can start robbing stores already on the second day, there are weapons in the nearest police station, there is some water in the toilet tank (if you get a couple of bottles of drinking water in the store - even better), your property no longer exists, a man with a weapon is always right, where there is a person with a weapon - there should not be you, who dresses like a military man - fights (even if he doesn’t want to), a cache of fuel and lubricants is a big plus (fuel and lubricants, by the way, can become a currency commensurate in liquidity with weapons and ammunition), important objects are not We're even getting close.
And here's another thing. NEVER GO ANYWHERE JUST SO, ESPECIALLY “TO SEE WHAT IS THERE.” In urban combat, many things are done “quietly,” using the reconnaissance and sabotage method. Any reconnaissance group that sees you, 100%, will go and cut you down. In films they point the finger “quietly” and move on. In real life, you will be killed on the spot. Their survival and completion of the task depends on the absence of witnesses. Moreover, a group that has taken a position in a maneuverable urban battle will do the same if you “illuminate” their positions and move on. Even a fucking machine gun crew at an intersection that has just “dug in” will not have warm feelings towards you.
Let's get out
So, part two. Now we are starting to get out of town. There are ring roads around large settlements - this is an ASS. Motorized riflemen on boxes will take the city into a ring in a few hours, moving on smooth asphalt. If this happens, then immediately discard all thoughts of “slipping through unnoticed.” Any “incomprehensible” movement is, in combat conditions, immediately a turn, and the golden rule “I don’t see, I don’t shoot” often does not work. We are going to the cordon to surrender in good faith. But we haven’t gotten to that point yet...
Yes, here's one more thing: DO NOT GET IN THE CAR!!! Any transport in the city will be fired upon 100%.
So, we have with us a backpack with swag necessary for survival, ideally, a small-sized weapon (Aksu + pistol, standard cop set), and another small bag that duplicates the main backpack only on a much more modest scale (for example, in your backpack food for three days, and in the bag for another day, etc.). Keep the bag close to the body and do not remove it. It is very important to take with you separately, even in shorts, all the jewelry you find. Cover the backpack with a white sheet and secure it to it. This is necessary so that any asshole who spots you (and there will be many of them, and don’t even hope to pass unnoticed in the city) sees that you are a CIVIL and does not decide to “open” his position for your sake.
You will be escorted in sight and you will move on. Of course, you are not marching along the main avenue, but you don’t need to cover yourself in mud, ala Schwarzenegger in the Predator - they will herd you and shoot you, because they will not understand who you are and what you are. If you get hold of a machine gun (ideally an axu), fold the butt and hide it under your jacket.
If a person with a weapon is heading straight towards you, you stop and “without tricks”, his comrades are in position. He will most likely gut you for swag, if he wanted to shoot you, he would have already shot you. If he takes away your backpack, you give it back (we would have given it back anyway at the exit from the city, at the cordon, 100:, ask them to leave you a sheet (you will put it on your back) and a bag (small, in which we duplicated everything in smaller quantities). This is a purely psychological moment, we calmly give away big things and ask them to leave us small ones, as a rule, people agree, this was our calculation from the very beginning. No one will let you leave with a bunch of swag, everyone needs it. We say that we have a machine gun (not we take it out and show it, and calmly talk about its presence) and ask to leave it - they will take 100%, but this will allow you to keep the pistol (don’t talk about it, if you give the machine gun, you are unlikely to be harassed; the machine gun would have been noticed anyway, but if you you passed immediately, it means you are “non-violent”).
It’s as if you are exchanging your things for your own. About the speed of movement... if you walk around the city 10–15 kilometers a day, then this is an excellent speed. Remember that you will not go straight, but will wind your way through neighborhoods, as there will be local battles. Accordingly, if according to the map there are 10 kilometers from your home to the Ring Road, this does not mean that you will cover them in a day. Go during the DAY. Usually they move at night, but any asshole who goes at night 100 out of 100 will get a bullet. You don’t go anywhere, you go to a checkpoint or a support post, if necessary, walk 200–300 meters to it with your hands raised.
The point is that the post is equipped for “reception” and the soldiers feel more comfortable there, and therefore there will be less desire to shoot. They start harassing you. You have already thrown off your weapon, you have been “quietly patient”, an officer will come out to you. Most likely some lieutenant, no older.
Weapons, which we do not forget to part with before we approach the military at the post (if they accept you with a weapon, it will be difficult to explain that you are a civilian; you will either be recorded as deserters or disguised as an enemy). If you left the city half empty for 1-3 days, moving from area to area, then this is normal. From personal experience: regular peanut Snickers are very nutritious. 6 double Snickers is the daily kcal requirement for a man. It may not work to heat the food (most likely). Snickers is certainly not a buffet, but the war is on, don’t give a fuck about food. The Snickers theme was honestly stolen from the Chechens. They are fighting them. You can have a snack right on the way, a very good idea, with sugar, glucose, it lifts your mood (considering that you will be in a terrible psychophysical state - glucose comes in very handy). The main thing is to understand that the guys with machine guns are very dressed up and they are shooting at them. It's very easy to give them a reason to shoot you. So be careful and don't show off. Simpler face, agree to everything.
So, part three. Now I will very briefly tell you where and why you need to leave.
NO HEROES! Let the foam go away, and then you’ll figure out where and what’s happening.
In the BEST case, the officers will send you to hell, they have no time for you, this is not a refugee reception center.
In general, according to your mind, you should have a “house in the village”, in which in the underground there is a cache of stew meat, canned food, water, medicine, etc., where you should retreat.
For a loved one, I recommend using any tourist campsite near a small population. If you have previously been outdoors near a lake or river, for example at a barbecue, then it is quite possible to go there. Firstly, you will know what to expect. Be aware of the availability of drinking water and food in the population. Secondly, you know the place. This will greatly support you psychologically. Refugees are a very sad picture, it’s hard to look at them. But the “herd” exodus of refugees may not be organized by anyone, and you will end up leaving alone and without a final point where “some” red cross will receive you. Most likely this will happen, don’t even doubt it. Of course, there will no longer be any ferry service, but at the river station you can always “privatize” a rowing boat. The White Sea is relatively calm. It’s possible to swim across (it’s difficult but it’s possible, you have no more reasons to whine, so let’s row).
You go and say right away, like a high-class black man: “I am a strong healthy man, I will do any work for you, for food.” Forget about the moral responsibility of priests to the laity right away, and it’s better not to even open your mouth about this.
Of course, everything is conditional. You can choose another place. But the main principle is: your property is no longer there, you are quite happy to be in a semi-slave position if you are fed. By the way, the absence of your property also means that no one else has it. Anyone who cannot protect his property with a weapon does not have property. This is for discussion: how to get vehicles
Of course, there is no public transport anymore. The advantage for us is that now we can get into the car. The car can be “privatized” or found abandoned. There is no need to touch an abandoned car with an empty tank. You won’t be able to get the fuel and lubricants, and even if you push it, you’ll go to hell at the gas station. Once you get your hands on a car, hang it with white rags, ideally make a “cross” on the roof with red tape (this is not a panacea, they bomb other vehicles too, but there’s a greater chance that they’ll target you). You have to move slowly! 50–60 km/h. This was done for one simple reason: there may be ribbons with military personnel on the highway, and if you drive quickly on them, some “Ivan” will definitely shoot “just in case.” Any civilians who want to stop you go to hell, accelerate (they won’t share with you, but they will ask you to “share”).
If you have a convoy from your family, you are dead. If you have a family, then you must leave the city and find yourself in the country (with supplies of food and water) in the first seconds as soon as people on the streets began to swear about the Great Poo. If you do not have positions for retreat and have a “convoy”, you are a walking two hundred, and so is the convoy. Don’t be an asshole, get ready in advance, you need to TAKE your loved ones SOMEWHERE. And they must have food. Then do whatever you want. Do you want to come back and fight, do you want to come back and go to clubs while your wife is “on potatoes”. But the main thing is to think about them in advance, then it will be too late. Everything that I have said up to this point is all for “loners” who have nothing to lose. If you have a family, prepare in advance. As history has shown, family is more valuable than the Motherland, at least at the first stage.
Yes, that's it. We're done with the maneuvers. Next I will tell you some specifics about the database. How to behave if you have seen enough of patriotic films and, foolishly, have decided to “die for the graves of your grandfathers.” So that this does not turn into a “virtual club of thugs”, I will tell some specific little things in abstracts. Learn various tricks that will help you more effectively protect the bright future of the Great Pu.
There is always discord and insanity in the troops. Nobody really understands anything. Most officers are assholes, and the number of moral monsters who rushed to fight will go off scale. And this is normal (more precisely, not normal, but the norm). Remember, no matter how smart you are, you stick your brains down your ass and do everything exactly as you are told. Even if this is some kind of stupid obviousness, you DO NOT IMPROVISE. Everything is in accordance with the charter and orders. Anyone who starts to “get smart,” no matter how logical and reasonable it may seem, always ends up in trouble.
- Remember, if your own people yell at you, it’s not bad. No need to snap back. It’s bad when your own people shoot at you. And this also happens, since it’s quite difficult to figure out where you are and where you are strangers. The battles are maneuverable and positions are constantly changing. You can confidently fight for several hours until headquarters realizes from radio communications that you are screwing each other. So this also happens. And then there is no need to present claims to the “opponents”; they didn’t like it either.
— Remember the weapon is always on safety. You take it off only if you start shooting or go on a “head patrol” (but YOU are unlikely to end up there, the commanders won’t take the risk). If there is a blockhead walking next to you on the march with the fuse removed, correct him. DO NOT PUSH YOUR HANDS TOWARDS THE WEAPON. Correct with words, tell him about the fuse. If he tells you to fuck him, then make the decision yourself: you can tell the sergeant or officer, you can kill him as you want. But remember that a lot of guys were packed into 200 because of idiots who handled weapons carelessly. On the other hand, a fighter who is placed in front of the commander may then shoot at you. Decide for yourself. It’s better to stand your ground and press it yourself if your character allows. - NEVER point a weapon at your own people. Even as a joke, even with the safety on, even with the magazine unfastened. You will be “punished” for such a trick.
— On the AK, the translator (fuse) has three positions. Actually, blocking, automatic fire and single. If you suddenly release the safety in a panic, you will probably lower it all the way and put it in single-fire mode. This was done so that the fighter, crap from horror, would not waste the magazine in a second and would not be left without ammunition. Remember this. — The fuse on the AK clangs quite disgustingly. If you need to remove it quietly, then pull it back and smoothly switch it to the desired fire mode (this is almost always a single fire). - Before leaving, jump in place. Check that nothing is clanging or strumming at you. It is better to rewind the swivels on the weapon in advance with electrical tape or a bandage. The cartridge is in the chamber, and on the fuse. - Don't be an asshole. Study the shooting tables for your weapon. The bullet is NOT flying STRAIGHT. It has a ballistic trajectory with elevations and decreases. Therefore, correctly determining the distance to the target and knowing the shooting table is a good opportunity to hit quickly, which means reducing the time it takes for them to shoot at you. — The wind affects the trajectory of the bullet. Study the effect of wind on your weapon IN ADVANCE, and not by sight and by eye.
— If you have the opportunity to choose a weapon, take the same one (same caliber) as most of your comrades. You can’t carry a lot of ammunition on yourself, and they run out quickly, especially in the city, so if they can share it with you, that’s a big plus. If your comrade is killed, do not hesitate to replenish your ammunition (after receiving permission from the commander). — If you go “autonomous,” then you take 360 rounds of ammunition (that’s 12 magazines) and the same amount, but in packs you simply throw into your backpack. Save a lot of weight. — Remember that magazines located on the chest and stomach are additional armor protection. — Most of the deaths and injuries are from shrapnel. An ordinary crappy padded jacket is quite capable of protecting you from small fragments. By hanging an unloading magazine with stores on top, you can consider yourself relatively poorly protected. Don't forget to raise the gate. — Body armor is very good. Any. Even the most second-hand ones.
- If a bullet hit your armored vehicle, this still does not mean that he saved you. Since the energy of a bullet stopped by armor elements is capable of causing you a monstrous armor-plated injury. — After spending several days in the fresh air, a smoker can be spotted 70–100 meters away. Stop smoking. - If you heard something, stop the group and “give silence.” Listen carefully. Even if you slow down the group every five minutes, only rare assholes will swear at you. “When you stop, you never continue to stand.” You need to kneel or lie down. It's very exhausting, but it's a matter of survival for the whole group. If so-and-so is too lazy to sit down, give that meerkat a hard time. — There should be no finger on the trigger, even if the weapon is on safety.
— On marches, you put the machine gun on your hands and fold them on your chest in a cross. It's easier to carry. At the same time, the thumb of the other hand is always ready to release the safety, and raise the weapon quickly enough. — The belt (automatic) is always on the neck. Otherwise, if you get ambushed, a mine will explode and you will fly in one direction, and your weapon in the other, and you will turn from a light 300 into a 200. - Don’t sleep on duty. If you fall asleep, not only your enemies will want to shoot you. During the Second World War, people were officially shot for this, as well as for losing weapons. Now they are shooting unofficially. — You can pee on your knees without turning into a standing target. - ONLY the rootstock should go to the toilet. One shits - the second covers it. If no one wants to follow you, be patient. - Sneeze into yourself. - He who runs slowly dies quickly. — The effectiveness of grenades is overrated. There were cases when a grenade exploded in a small room, and inside there were only slight concussions. “You can’t pull out the pin with your teeth.” Only with your fingers. - If you are carrying out a clean-up operation (the last hours of your life), then as in the joke: two people enter the room, first the grenade, then you. - Standing in front of the door and waiting for your comrades gathering for the assault, hold the door so that it does not open. Otherwise, you will see either a grenade or a barrel in the corridor. - Roll the grenade across the floor. Don't throw. “They rolled a grenade, there was an explosion, they rolled another one, but it wasn’t cocked.” Let them go hide again. - Don’t run in front of your friend’s gun. You are blocking his ability to shoot. - Any closed door is INVOUCHABLE, as it can be mined. — Do not open drawers, do not turn on electronics. Don't touch anything. Everything can be mined. It is important. To the point where you can’t open the refrigerator, even if you really want to eat, or lift the toilet lid. — There may be holes in the walls covered with rags or carpets. This way the enemy can quickly run from front door to front door. Remember this. The fact that you are in the last apartment does not mean that you cannot enter through the wall from the neighboring one. — You can hang nets from old Soviet beds on the windows. They stop VOGs well. — You can hear meowing, for example, from behind the closet door. I'm very sorry, but the animal is doomed. Most likely he was locked there along with a grenade. You can't open it. This is a very difficult moment, always, in such difficult situations, you want to remain human, but... - If you need to shoot from indoors to the street, then you don’t need to crawl to the windowsill or stand on the side of the window. Go deeper into the room, stand on a stool, cover yourself with a wall or the like. And don’t turn on the light, you can’t, don’t illuminate yourself (I’m not even talking about the VU). — Shards of brick or concrete knocked out by fire tend to fly towards you. If it hits the eyes... well, you get the idea. “It’s useless to shoot at people with a grenade launcher.” Although now, it seems, they have begun to make high-explosive fragmentation shells, but, IMHO, this is heresy. — Shooting for a long time without changing position is a bad idea. - Bend down. — There is no need to “identify snipers.” It’s not your job, and you don’t have enough knowledge. Continue fighting, “not paying” attention. - Be prepared, mentally, to “work off” the civilians who exposed you. Including women and children. If the prospect is not encouraging, then move more carefully. — On the AK-74 (a model with good accuracy), you can attach the PSO sight from the SVD. At distances of 500–600 meters, the AK-74 and SVD have very close trajectories, the sight will fit perfectly. Due to the caliber, you will shoot and transfer fire much faster than with the SVD. And the assholes who decide to look for a sniper will not be interested in you. — It is IMPOSSIBLE to shoot from a grenade launcher indoors. He has platoon time. He needs to fly 15–25 meters before the grenade is cocked. Accordingly, it simply will not work indoors. — Modern RGO and RGN grenades explode FIRST on impact. They have an impact fuse. and an explosion through the gap - this is the self-destructor triggered (in case the grenade fell into loose snow) - No one, not even sappers, is engaged in removing mines and explosive devices. They stupidly blow them up with a TNT bomb. No need to get smart and start filming the VU. “Normal warriors put secrets on the trip wires so that they can’t be easily removed.” So cutting the cord is a bad idea. Just pass by. This is not your problem, there are older comrades for this.
I won’t teach you how to do overhead exercises or stretching. I think you understand that this is an article right away. Learn first aid. — In case of wounds, there is venous and arterial bleeding. They are “treated” differently. But something else is important here. In the heat of battle there is no time. With venous bleeding, a comrade will die for several hours, and with arterial bleeding, literally 10–20 seconds, and then loss of consciousness and hypoxia begins. So, in order not to worry, you quickly apply an arterial gash over the wound (now the interns will start to be outraged, but such is life, this is not a citizen, you have to violate it) and return to the battle. Your friend will have half an hour or an hour to figure it out himself, or you will do it when you are free. — A tourniquet is always at hand! Neither in a bag, nor in a backpack, or wrapped around the butt, or in an unloading case at hand.
— Always take TWO tourniquets with you! You can give one to a wounded comrade and a minute later you will receive a bullet in the femoral artery. — There is such a thing as “suppression by fire.” By actively watering the enemy, you can often hinder his actions without even hitting or causing damage to manpower. Tracers will especially help you. - Remember the tracers, in addition to the fact that they clog up the barrel very much, they also give away your position. So don't overuse them. And it’s difficult to conduct targeted fire with them. — Weapons need to be cleaned every day. Especially gentle in the muzzle brake area. If there is a groove or hole there, then the accuracy of the battle will go to hell. — The last three cartridges in the magazine, it’s better to fill them with tracers. So that an empty store does not come as a surprise to you. Moreover, if you leave one cartridge in the barrel, then you will only have to load a new magazine, that is, the reload speed will increase.
- Watch your feet, don’t be lazy to wash them. Rub it and you are no longer a warrior. - If you see that someone can shoot, this is not a reason to shoot. If you are not noticed, ask the commander if you can get involved in the battle. - If you notice someone, but have not seen you yet, do not suddenly jump to the side. Peripheral vision will give you away instantly. Gently and smoothly, without rushing, sit down and calmly take a position. It will be much less noticeable. - Remember, when chambering a cartridge, the bolt must be released sharply so that it clangs. Otherwise it will “cheat.”

LESSONS IN COMBAT SURVIVAL [1]
(Notes from an instructor of the FSB Vympel special forces unit)
LET'S BECOME CHAMELEONS
Since ancient times, the world's population has been adapting to the environment. We changed nature, nature changed us. But the rule has always remained constant: if they don’t see you, it means you are saved, you are alive. It is not in vain that they try to “mow down” not only the animal and plant worlds, but also people wearing military uniforms.
Have you wondered why there are more than 3 to 10 different camouflages in the American army? In their army, military personnel are ready, by order of their own government, to carry out the combat missions assigned to them anywhere in the world, under all conditions and on any terrain.
The most specific interpretation of the word “camouflage” is given in the “Dictionary of the Russian Language” (USSR Academy, 1983). This is “a camouflage method consisting of the colors of guns, ships, buildings, etc. spots, stripes, etc., distorting their outlines and making them difficult to detect.”
Camouflage is very necessary for military personnel of those special units that operate in isolation from the main forces and do not have the ability to constantly supply food and ammunition. This means that stealth is the best way to save lives and complete a combat mission.
There are a huge number of camouflage options and methods. Let's give just a few. To camouflage clothes, you need to sew a huge amount of twine or ribbons and scraps of fabric onto the back, to which tufts of grass are tied. A well-camouflaged person can only be found by accidentally stepping on him.
The platoon commander, Senior Lieutenant Zhora Kh., made one grave mistake with all this camouflage option. He even sewed loops on his chest, without thinking through the issue of wearing a bra with special equipment.
The instructor, a former employee of the special unit of the KGB of the USSR "Vympel", recommended: if you don’t have suitable clothes at hand, an ordinary canvas bag, previously dumped in dust, or “washed” in dirty water, with slits for arms and legs, on which they are then sewn, is also suitable. weed threads.
When camouflaging a gun with grass, you must not forget about the ability to freely jerk the bolt. The instructor of the special intelligence platoon, Sergeant Vladimir Konstantinov, camouflaged his own AK-74 assault rifle in such a way that, no matter how much we tried to see the weapon in the low grass, we were unable to do so.
ACCOUNTS AS A METHOD OF SURVIVAL
You have watched the Baltic film “Long Road in the Dunes” more than once. Remember the caches of the “forest brothers”? How much effort did it take for the soldiers of the special detachments of the NKVD to find and smoke them out of their holes?
The instructor emphasized that caches for military intelligence officers are not only a method of survival. Imagine a cache located just a few meters from the road along which enemy military columns are moving. The reconnaissance saboteur, remaining undetected, is capable of selectively destroying command and staff vehicles with mines. How this is done was described and partly evidenced at the test site.
After a detailed discussion of this topic, all the officers agreed with the instructor that even one spy is capable of defeating a company-sized unit on the march and quietly, capturing a prisoner, dragging him into his hole. And with the advent of darkness, hide from the site of the operation with the loot.
After which the “pennant” complicated the problem: “Suppose the enemy found one of the scouts and set off in pursuit.” The whole company, according to all the rules of strategy, turned into a chain and, supported by armor, moved to comb the area. They sent search dogs in the footsteps of our spy. What to do?
It turned out that a small reconnaissance group, even in such a seemingly hopeless situation, is capable of not only surviving, but also inflicting tangible losses on the enemy while remaining invisible. Fiction In all such cases, the secret of success lies in well-equipped caches.
The instructor was asked the question: “Where can our fleeing spy go?”
- He should not run recklessly, headlong, but should move along a strictly discussed route. The guys will cut off his pursuit with controlled mines. There are a huge number of options in this regard. In the end, our scout is able to turn on the defense system himself and break away from the tail. Having run along that small stream about 100 meters, he dives into a small, muddy puddle near a steep bank. This is nothing more than an emergency siphon entrance to a spacious underground shelter. Not a single dog can smell it. Anyone approaching this location will be destroyed by guided mines.
When I arrived at the training ground together with the Vympelov team, I didn’t expect to immediately find myself at one of the training points. I was asked to check the quality of the task assigned to the personnel of Captain M.’s company. It was not at all difficult: to find several caches on the ground.
There was nothing noticeable on an ordinary, inconspicuous slope, overgrown with short, rough grass (which had already turned brown from the richness of the sun's rays). He walked on the ground, even jumped. Nothing
And when the prearranged signal was transmitted over the radio, right in the place where they had just walked, a layer of earth moved to the side, the belly of the earth was exposed, and two smiling scouts crawled out. There were already three of them in another cache. In principle, according to the instructor from Vympel, you can dig up any more or less significant slope or just an open area up and down, placing dozens of special forces soldiers underground.
An ordinary cache (not burdened with technical innovations), depending on the soil, is equipped in 2-6 hours. They dig a standard trench for a grenade launcher and cover it from above. The material lies under your feet: scraps of rope and logs, any boards. All this is adjusted to the length of the cache and tied together in the form of small “rafts”. Plastic film is laid on top, then everything is carefully covered with humus. A piece of humus is placed on the hatch cover.
Now you need to arrange ventilation: natural or forced. Otherwise, after 10-15 minutes there will be nothing to breathe in the cache. A unique method of ventilation is using a lit stearine candle inserted into a bottle without a bottom. A hose is put on the neck of the bottle, the other end is brought out and camouflaged in thick grass or bushes. The advantages of this method are that the exhaled carbon dioxide does not accumulate in the cache, but is expelled outside, in addition, it is light and even relatively warm. The downside is that in cool weather steam will curl above the ventilation pipe. This unmasks.
Another method is a plastic bag used as bellows. Exhaust air is expelled through a tube, fresh air enters through another.
The disadvantages of forced ventilation are human odors being blown outside. It doesn’t matter which dog can smell our cache a hundred meters away. Well, mosquitoes are a column above the “exhaust pipe.” In general, there are several methods to repel or kill search dogs. In addition, the paths around are mined with controlled mines. Scouts monitor the area using periscopes.
The best option is to equip several caches located within visual communication distance. When the enemy comes very close to one of them, or even is directly above the hidden scouts, comrades from the second cache can give them a radio command: “Detonate mine number so-and-so.” The fighter from the first cache connects the blasting machine to the appropriate ends and presses the button. The OZM-72 fragmentation barrage mine jumps out of the grass, the explosion Two thousand iron buckshots will leave no chance for the enemy to survive within a radius of 25 meters.
The enemy needs to pull out the maimed and killed, he will no longer have time for us. If there are still stubborn warriors who want to continue the search, we will detonate the next mine. What can he do about invisible death?
In general, the enemy must be treated with respect. He can be given a chance to find the pseudo-cache. Maybe this will somehow console his pride and help him write off battle losses.
Therefore, according to the instructor, before going into combat, you need to “play out” the upcoming task on the ground. Military personnel must practice coherence of actions until they become automatic.
And here are the caches they made at Vympel. One fine moment in the winter, in a forest near Noginsk, fighters of the 1st Vympel unit built an underground bunker for fifty people, who had a main and several emergency exits. The unit I was in acted as the “enemy” and had to find them.
The “partisans” honestly spent three days underground. When all the containers and plastic bags were filled with waste from their vital activity, the guys could not stand it and went to the surface at night to breathe. Since it is virtually impossible to hide traces of their presence in the snow, the entrance to their den was found. During the day, the forest area was cordoned off, armored personnel carriers were pulled up, and a battery of Vasilek automatic mortars was deployed. But the “partisans” attacked us with guided mines and broke through the cordon ring. We set off in pursuit along their ski track on the Buran snowmobile, but it hit a mine after a few hundred meters.
"DANCE" ON A MINEFIELD
Many soldiers died in mines in various “hot spots.” According to the instructor, 99 percent of losses could have been avoided if the fighters had simple knowledge and skills in calling mines. On the battlefield, you mainly encounter tripwires and pressure mines. All other exotic mines equipped with fuses such as seismic, capacitive, bio and similar ones are very unique.
At the training ground, the instructor showed several mine detection techniques. Stretch marks in thick grass are simply revealed using a stripped twig. But if the scouts crawl or move on their haunches, then they have to rely mainly on their hands. The instructor showed a typical slow-motion “dance”, or rather “kata”, of a sapper, then asked the servicemen a task: one group should place several tripwires in a dense forest, and the others would try to find and remove them.
At night, moving practically by touch, but carefully - one after another, Private A. and Corporal Ts. successfully coped with the difficult task. They rightfully deserved the gratitude of their commanders. After all, they removed the tripwires installed by the most experienced intelligence officers. According to the deputy company commander, Senior Lieutenant Stanislav K., he was shocked that his subordinates succeeded in this work: “Well, who could think of the idea that “the first damn thing won’t be lumpy”?”
The exercises also showed some cunning techniques for overcoming enemy minefields.
● Option No. 1
The 1st scout-sapper is coming. He does not touch the detected pressure mines, but only marks them with luminous markers, sheets of white paper, pegs, etc. Whoever is at the back of the column removes the markers behind him so that the enemy cannot find traces, and passes them forward along the chain.
● Option No. 2
The scout, having found the tripwire, does not touch it, but stands over it on... all fours. Others step over him. Having let the entire group through, the scout brings it up.
These techniques need to be practiced at every training session, training field trip, methodological lesson, and during the current year. It is better to use shells of live mines, but without detonator caps. Every serviceman must learn to neutralize PMN by touch.
The instructor gives an introduction: “Imagine for yourself: in the darkness you are creeping up to the enemy’s camp, and suddenly from the bushes, almost point-blank, a line of tracers from a machine gun comes at you. What will you do?
The answer is clear: “We’ll bring down all our firepower on this “spiritual” shooter.”
- There is no shooter there. It was a machine gun with a tripwire.
The scouts tried this trick with a machine gun equipped with blank cartridges and were pleased with the effect.
Nikita Temnozor
